Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-26. This policy applies to the electromagnetism3d.com website and the Magnetism 3D Lab simulator ("the Service").
What we collect
From anyone visiting the website: aggregate
analytics via Google Analytics 4, but only after
you accept the cookie banner — page path, referrer, approximate
location (country/city level, not precise), browser, device type.
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (e.g. _ga)
to distinguish unique visitors. If you decline the banner, no GA
script loads and no analytics cookies are set. We do not run
advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or cross-site
fingerprinting. Data sent to Google Analytics is also subject to
Google's privacy policy.
From users with an account: name, email address, and the scenes you save. Authentication is handled by Supabase; we store the minimum needed to recognize you and persist your scenes.
From donors: Stripe processes donation payments; we never see or store your card details. Stripe shares the donor email and amount with us so we can issue receipts on request.
Why we collect it
To run the Service: authenticate you, save your scenes you ask us to save, and process donations if you choose to make one. For nothing else.
Who we share with
Hosting: Cloudflare Pages. Authentication: Supabase. Payment processing for donations: Stripe. Analytics: Google Analytics. These receive only the data required for their function.
We do not sell personal data. We do not advertise to students. We do not share data with third parties for marketing.
Students under 13 (COPPA)
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. The simulator can be used anonymously without an account, which is the recommended mode for under-13 students.
FERPA & school use
We don't have a formal Data Processing Addendum or "school official" agreement in place. The Service collects no student data when used anonymously, and only an email address and saved scenes when a user chooses to create an account. Schools considering use with named students should evaluate fit against their own data-handling policies.
Data retention
Saved scenes and account metadata are retained until you delete your account. Donation receipts are retained for 7 years for tax reasons. Analytics are retained in aggregate form indefinitely.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data or its deletion at any time by emailing [email protected]. EU/UK/California residents have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA, which we honor regardless of residency.
